The Story of our LAB
In the recent years, the team of gynecologic oncology led by Professor Ma has been responsible for 1 project (chief unit) of 973 National Projects, 2 projects of National 863 Projects, and got more than 30 million yuan funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 projects of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and 2 projects of Overseas Youth Cooperation (Outstanding Youth Fund B), 15 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China and 39 provincial or ministerial projects. He has published 739 papers (including 65 papers of SCI and more than 1000 papers cited by SCI) in domestic and foreign core journals. He has published 18 monographs, won 3 second prizes of national science and technology progress awards, 1 first prize of scientific and technological progress in Hubei Province, 1 Provincial Achievement Promotion Award, won 7 national invention patents, and declared 2 international patents.

A Secondary professor at HUST, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, a director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tongji Hospital, Tongji medical college of HUST, and a director of the Ministry of Education's key laboratory for tumor invasion and metastasis, a Vice Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Society of Gynecologic Oncology, a Chairman of the Chinese Medical Association Gynecological Oncology Branch, a Director of the National Center for Obstetric and Gynecological Diseases and Clinical Medicine, a Director of the China Association for the Promotion of International Exchange of Health Care, an Honorary Chairman of the Association of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists of Hubei Medical Doctor Association, the first recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund in the obstetrics and gynecology community in China (2000) and the chief scientist of the "973" project (2002).
Prof MA was chiefly responsible for editing the diagnosis and treatment guidelines of gynecological malignancy, an editor of the Gynecology and Obstetrics( national planning textbook for medical students of eight-year training system) and the English version of it, published 486 papers as the first author or correspondent author among which 163 papers were published in the SCI journals represented by Nature Genetics, J Clin Invest and J Exp Med, with a total impact factor of 612.7, cited by others for totaling 4262 times including some cited by Lancet or other international journals for 2630 times ,led the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Tongji Hospital to be honored as a National Key Disciplines for two times(a National Excellent Course in 2009 and a National Key Clinical Specialization of the Ministry of Health in 2010), also led the research team and lab to be awarded the title of Innovative Team of the Ministry of Education in 2006 and Key Lab of the Ministry of Education in 2008 respectively and they were authorized as the National Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Medicine Research.
